I know James and his family through Crestwood Church where we both are members. We are together part of the Body of Christ and the extended family of Crestwood. My wife Kim and I served as youth leaders for a time and got to know the kids at least a little bit. James and I would play a little basketball (at least try) and we always had a great time. I can still see him shooting 30 footers from the corner with no shot in heck at making it! He was among the kindest, funniest, and most genuine people I've ever met. He's incredibly bright and knowledgeable in many things, but even a simpleton like me could easily converse with him. With James, what you see is what you get. I always admired he and Mary Rech for making sure the kids were at church whenever they could (even if the kids weren't "down" for it) :) 48 is so young, but he poured so much into his family, his church, his work, and his friendships and relationships with others with the time he had.
My biggest regret (and life lesson) is I didn't get to know James better. I'll miss seeing him although I await the day when we'll see each one another again.
